5 advice to perform your interview for a babysitting job

Tips n°1 : Looking good

 

Physical appearance is really important because it determines first impression and so it is decisive for the rest of the interview and the final result. That is why it is essential to wear a professional and appropriate outfit. Don’t be  or too much. Also, being on time to a meeting will highlight your conscientiousness and your engagement to be a good babysitter. For the interview, be natural, smiling and relaxed. You don’t have to be perfect and answer true or false to a quizz. This interview is about learning more about you and your personality, to see if you are enthusiastic to work as a babysitter. Indeed, if you look like someone polite, calm and cool, the babysitting agency or the family will easily think you’re the ideal person to teach their kids the good values.

 

Tips n° 2 : Get ready to the usual questions 

 

We know there are some recurring questions for each babysitting job interview. So it’s really judicious to get ready to it earlier. The babysitting agency or the family will probably ask you if you have some experience in babysitting. If you never had any experience in babysitting job, no worries, everybody has to start one day, think about familial experiences you had with kids : brothers, sisters, cousins… 

 

 

Tips n°3 : Your past experiences 

 

For the ones who ever had a babysitting experience, the babysitting agency will probably  want to know your past experiences with kids. Did you care about one or many children ? How old were they ? What tasks did you have to do ? (homework, cooking, baths, school pickups, etc…)  How long did you do babysitting in this family ? Was it a great experience ? What did you learn from it ? If you never had any babysitting experience in your past, and so it is your first experience, have you ever make free babysitting for your family ? Do you have a social work or did you ever worked for something close to people ? Did you ever have personal experiences similar to babysitting job ? (au pair in a foreign country, participated in a charity organization, etc…). Show your interest in helping people in the need and your social and human values. 

 

Tips n°4 : A typical day 

 

During the interview for the babysitting job, you will probably have to describe a typical day with the potential future kid(s) you will have to care. Before anything, It’s really important you ask questions about the children’s health and its interest. Is he/she wise or disruptive ?  Does he/she practice sport ? Does he/she have food allergies ? Does he/she follow a special diet for health reasons ? Ask those questions will show you are involved in this babysitting job experience and conscious of all the issues it involves, you are taking zero risk. 

 

Tips n°5 : Set the calendar

 

Also, the babysitting agency will probably ask you the tasks you want to do, your availabilities, etc… You have to be sure about your agenda and set working hours during the ones you will have free time for your babysitting job. Also, you will have more or less tasks according to your calendar. That is why you have to be organized and plan clearly your planning until the end of your babysitting job.
